History
A native of Lexington, Ky., Vincent Fister, Sr., was born in 1919 and grew up on a family farm, helping his father and brothers. After his second bout with tuberculosis, he decided it was time to leave farming and try something new. Vincent joined a local real estate company where he worked. During this time Vincent identified a need for a local moving company in Lexington.
In 1953, with one truck and a small, 5,000-square-foot warehouse in downtown Lexington, Vincent and a partner started what would later be renamed Vincent Fister, Inc.
As growth in Lexington continued, Vincent knew that he must continue to work hard to make his company the best possible and remain competitive. In 1955, Vincent Fister, Inc. joined United Van Lines as an agent to increase the company’s capacity not only to perform local moves but to facilitate interstate moves, too.
In 1968, with growth in Lexington continuing at a rapid pace, Vincent Fister, Inc. increased its fleet and purchased and moved to their current 10-acre location in Lexington. Identifying the need for warehouse and storage space, Vincent built his first of three 50,000 square-foot buildings and his fleet garage.
In 1971, with business continuing to thrive, Vincent built the second 50,000 square foot warehouse on the property. Two years later, the third 50,000 square foot warehouse was completed and the size of the fleet increased.
In 1975, Vincent transferred operational oversight of the business to his son, Mike. Vincent remained president of Vincent Fister, Inc., until his death in 1981.
In 1981, Mike Fister assumed the responsibilities of president and CEO of Vincent Fister, Inc. During Mike’s tenure Vincent Fister, Inc.’s fleet has increased yearly. The company has grown to one of the top hauling agents for United Van Lines.
In 2003, Dennis Tolson was named President of Vincent Fister Inc.
In 2017, Jorge Lancho was named President of Fister Inc. and Vincent Fister Inc.
In 2018, Vincent Fister Inc, Moving & Storage celebrated its 65th Anniversary.
Today we have nearly 65 units in our Vincent Fister fleet for local and long- distance moves and close to 150 for all our companies. We currently are the fourteenth-ranked hauling agent for United Van Lines out of more than 400 agents and are one of the largest moving companies in Kentucky. Our Vincent Fister management team has more than 160 years of combined experience in the moving industry. Fister Inc., our parent company, has a total of three companies, including Vincent Fister, Inc. We have been a BBB Accredited Business A+ since 1959.
